Oman’s Top 5 things to do in April 2017

Oman has some wonderful experiences during April.

There will be a several day long Camel event at As Suwayq 2-6, 2017; including the Ardha 2 man event.

The races are in the morning, well before 9am . The track is south of the Batinah Highway look for the Wadi Al Hemlai Road (on the direction toward Muscat west of the exit to As Suwayq) near a health centre – after about 8kms a right turn to the west will take you to the track – follow the 4×4 cars and picks ups.

On 5&6 April Condé Nast will have an International Luxury Conference at the Shangri-la hotel. This is being supported by the Oman government and will have Suzy Menkes of Vogue marshalling the event. Speakers include Alessandro Sartori of Ermenegildo Zegna, David Crickmore of Oman’s own Amouage perfumes, Elie Saab & Matthew Rubinger of Christie’s.

The Royal Opera House has 3 days (6,7,8 April) where the Ballet Giselle, the very romantic Ballet by Adolphe Adam the French composer.

Well timed for East holidays is a performance by The Swingle Singers , the popular classic group on the 15  April – again limited tickets available and as its Easter – good to book early.

In Musandam the weather in April is ideal to go on a Dhow cruise from Khasab in the north or Daba in the south. From Khasab you will cruise into the still waters of the ‘Fjords’ and choose from a half or full day.
