2017 Tour of Oman

Details of the 2017 Tour of Oman have been announced. The race from 14th-19th February will have 6 stages and 18 teams are expected to take part incl from USA, Bahrain & UAE; but not from UK (perhaps the lack of a race in Doha has impacted here) or surprisingly Oman.

While each stage has its appeal – the two stand outs are

Stage 5 that climbs (part) of the ascent t0 Al Jabal Al Akhdar – spectators should arrive before around 14:30 at Birkat Al Mawz (Mouz) and as it’s Saturday and the weekend why not also take a trip up the mountain before or after the race.

Stage 6 – that loops 4 times around Mutrah’s Corniche as a finish  – spectators should arrive before around 13:30 on the Corniche. The organisers say ‘The schedule is likely to be modified before the departure of the stage.’ Thats a real possibility as this is a working day – and the Diwan offices in Muscat close at 14:30 and roughly matches the race finish time.

The official main map of the event has stage 5 marked as stage 4 – so check for changes there
