Near Nizwa they visited Al Hamra a traditional mud-brick town detailed on pages 228-230 and had some traditional Omani beauty treatment
They explored beautiful Misfat Al Abriyeen a village set above a deep canyon, lined with date palms where Rick made his climb of the date palm pages 230-1.
Overnight they camped in the rugged Western Hajar Mountains at 2,000metres on a windy night pages 203-238
and later did some ‘canyoning’.
Travelled to Bidiyyah, a series of small villages, set on the edge of golden desert sands pages 252-3 where the high steep sand dunes allow ‘sandboarding’ which is included on page 254 and a trek on camels over the dunes.
