Muscat Book Fair, the annual event is always busy with buyers and often lots of interesting new books.
Most of Oman’s publishers have a stand and many of the Oman bookshops along with international publishers & distributors. Al Roya have taken a stand in the section of the exhibition for Omani establishments.
I was really happy to see my book ‘Walking through History’, about 4 of Oman’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites being promoted in their stand along with Dave Sargeant and Hanne & Jens Eriksen’s Birdwatching in Oman book and a nice range of books of old photos of the Gulf.

This year is the 21st year for Muscat Book Fair
Thank you Khalid – many years
How long has the fair been going?
Im not certain – probably more than 10 years. It attracts big crowds – an indication really that bookshops are thin on the ground and need a bit more marketing.
Thanks. It certainly didn’t exist when I was out there. And the only large bookshop I remember existing then was the Family Bookshop in Madinat Qaboos.
