It was good to take a day at sea and travel up from Khasab to Kumzar in Musandam and see Socotra Cormorants in Oman.
Scattered all along the coast were flocks of Socotra Cormorants who arrive here for the summer before breeding to the west on the islands off the Arabian Gulf coast of Bahrain and Saudi.
Here on an isolated crumbling rock, not far from Kumzar, a number were resting during feeding. Later a vast swarm descended on the sea in pandemonium close to Khasab as the sun was setting.
