Oman has created its 2018 Budget, an increase from 2017 proposed figure of 11.7Billion Omani Rials (30.5BillionUS$appx) to 12.5Billion Omani Rials (32.5BillionUS$appx)an increase of 6.8%. Oman’s GDP is hoped to increase by 3% in 2018.
Forbes magazine has released its annual list of most powerful women in the Arab world 2017. This year there are two lists, one for Business and one for Government. Topping the lists, as always, are Lubna S. Olayan and Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi of Saudi and UAE. However. there is a rapid rush to the top by Omani women.
Ad Duqm was once, only a few years ago, a small village with a couple of shops, an equal number of local restaurants and it was a cash economy with not even a bank. However times have changed and Oman’s port and industrial zone in Ad Duqm (Duqm SEZA) hosted Oman Wanfang LLC, a Chinese company, for a signing ceremony on the 19th April for Oman Wanfang to develop 1,172 hectares of land adjacent to Ad Duqm’s port.
The new port at Ad Duqm, some 500kms by road south of Muscat is rapidly becoming the most active economic area in Oman. From a town that a few years ago had no Bank, it was developed by the Oman government
