Oman Taxi services – new regulations

Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications have said that all Taxis (including the original Orange and White unmetered ones) will soon have fares set by the appropriate government authority . The Ministry intends to study supply & demand and operational costs, throughout the Sultanate.

Oman Budget 2018

Oman has created its 2018 Budget, an increase from 2017 proposed figure of 11.7Billion Omani Rials (30.5BillionUS$appx) to 12.5Billion Omani Rials (32.5BillionUS$appx)an increase of 6.8%. Oman’s GDP is hoped to increase by 3% in 2018.

Oman and UAE border changes

The UAE authorities have announced (according to Times of Oman) that from January 1 2018 there are now only 2 designated border crossings into the UAE.

These are both into / from Al Ain & Al Buraymi, though as they preclude the busiest UAE / Oman crossing at Hatta into Dubai expect a series of further changes.

Archaeological Site of Salut in Oman
