Archaeological Site of Salut in Oman

Some 26km southwest of Bahla in northern Oman, Salut may well turn out to be at the centre of the most important archaeological location in Oman; however it’s hardly known and is, at the moment, not ‘open’ for casual visits, though I have included it in my updated Bradt Guide to Oman, below, if entry is permitted.

Salut Archaeological Site Oman

Not far from Nizwa is the archaeological site of Salut. Spread over what must be 3sqkms that comprises a couple of low hills and dusty flood plain on the edge of Wadi Quriyat , it’s probably one of Oman’s future UNESCO World Heritage sites; and is naturally included in my update to the Bradt Guide to Oman, below.
