The Central Coast of Oman is affected by the summer Monsoon and so as Muscat is now not only hot but also humid we took a few days to travel down the coast from Muscat.

Mid-summer in Oman is also peak nesting season for turtles and we were fortunate to see this Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta) return to the sea after digging its nest. These of course are endangered throughout the world.

Because of the rough seas many of Oman’s Dhows are at anchor near the fishermen’s villages and here a flock of Sooty Gulls (Ichthyaetus hemprichii) sit on the beach near a couple of them.
