Our small Christmas tour group arrived into nice pleasantly warm sunny weather.
They were booked with me by ACE Study Tours, based near Cambridge. We travelled into Nizwa and enjoyed the town’s extensive suq and we all managed to make the rocky ascent up to the UNESCO tombs of Al Ayn.
Flying into Salalah, we visited the wonderful 2,000-year-old UNESCO site at Khor Rori. Fortunately, there was bright clear weather so that all could enjoy picnics outside.
Earlier during the Eid falling during the Haj period I enjoyed the atmosphere of one of the local ‘hapta’ suqs in the country.
There are held around Eid specifically for gift buying. Of course, dressing in traditional clothes is a must – and here some girls are dressed in traditional dress visiting friends on the occasion.
