There are lots of Eid Events in Oman (cultural, family oriented and a horse event) this August 2018 – check them out and some places to see when you visit each.
22nd August 2nd Day of Eid 16:00 – onwards; SUR – N’ama Beach

Sur with its 2 forts (which might not be open on the 2nd day of Eid), the old town clustered between the suq and sea, dhow yards and adjacent town of Al Ayjah, with its own fort, makes either a great full day trip or a leisurely weekend visit.
22nd-23rd August 2nd & 3rd Day of Eid 19:00-21:00; RUSTAQ – Rustaq Fort

Rustaq Fort with the adjacent old suq make a great start for a visit to the area, add in Al Hazm Fort and the spectacular wadis nearby and this has a great mix of history & nature.
22nd-24th August 2nd-4th Day of Eid Al Adha 17:00-23:00; IZKI – Public Park

Izki is in many respects overshadowed by Al Jabal Al Akhdar and might be omitted from a visit to the mountains. It, however, has a great deal of interest, two of Oman’s ancient mud settlements, substantial forts and one of Oman’s UNESCO Aflaj systems.
22nd-24th August 2nd-4th Day of Eid Al Adha 17:00-22:00; Wilayat IBRI – Al Dareez

Al Dareez is close to probably Oman’s most famous UNESCO sites, those of Bat, Al Ayn and Al Khutm. Its also near to several interesting forts, including at Al Aswad and Al Araqi forts making it a fantastic historical visit.
22nd-24th August 2nd-4th Day of Eid Al Adha 17:00-22:00; SALALAH – Atin – Atina Land

Atin (Ettin) is one of the main gateways to the greenery of Jabal Qara above Salalah which have the much-visited tomb of the Prophet Job. The base of the mountain has water springs, most notably Ain Garziz.
23rd August 3rd Day of Eid Al Adha 16:30-18:30; SUHAR – Silver Jubilee Park

Suhar is dominated by the substantial pot to the north. But as the Silver Jubilee Park shows there is lots of leisure activity. Suhar Fort is well worth visiting and the drive along the corniche adds to the visit.
23rd August 3rd Day of Eid Al Adha 19:00-21:00; SUHAR – Entertainment Centre

If you are making a full day visit to Suhar, take in the superb Sultan Qaboos Mosque for a morning visit on most days.
23rd August 3rd Day of Eid Al Adha 17:00-20:00 KHASAB; – Sports & Cultural Club

Khasab has a couple of forts, with Khasab Castle near the harbour the easiest to find. From the harbour, a half or full day Dhow trip is a fantastic family day out. Behind the town are rough roads up to the mountains offering an adventurous journey.
23rd August 3rd Day of Eid Al Adha 16:00-onwards Jaalan BANI BU ALI; – A’Swaih Park

Bani bu Ali in Jaalan offers a visitor one of Oman’s largest forts and its still unrestored. North of the fort is the old town, while 30 kms away is the coast with its sandy beaches.

24th August 4th Day of Eid 19:00-22:00; IBRI – Lulu Hypermarket

Ibri has a substantial fort in the centre of the town to enjoy during a visit to the area. Southeast of the main town is Al Sulaf, a hillside fortified town.
31st August 31st August 16:00-19:00 Wiliyat IBRA; – Yahmadi – Zad Al Rakib Equestrian Track

Ibra in eastern Oman has a number of old villages to the south of the town centre. The town of Yahmadi has a small castle with, to its east, a pleasant Date Oasis and flowing Falaj to enjoy.
