Muscat Festival 2019, Oman’s month-long entertainment and cultural event

Muscat Festival - Oman
Muscat Festival – Oman

will start on Thursday 10 January 2019 and will end on Saturday 9th February 2019.
The major venues will be

Naseem Garden (above) which will have children’s theatre and open air Cinema, consumer fairs, and a Heritage Village about Oman’s culture,

Amerat Park (above) for what is billed as ‘ trade fairs, stage events and spectacular visual shows’ and

in Oman Automobile (above) there will be events on January 24 and 25, February 7 and 8, and February 21 and 22. There will be a variety of events and attractions in each location.

There is a bus service from Ruwi Bus Station to Amerat, leaving every 20mins during the festival hours and a less useful one for non-residents from Mabela bus stand near Oman Oil to Naseem Gardens.
The entry charge is 200baisa (Omani Rial 0.200) and 100baisa for children. Known for its cultural events and displays of traditional handicrafts, including their manufacturing, Muscat Festival is a great way to explore Oman in miniature. An added bonus is authentic Omani food, freshly cooked.

This year the festival will include a Celebrity Cricket League match on 25th January at
Bawshar Sultan Qaboos Stadium with tickets available widely including Lulu Hypermarkets.
Open from 16:00-23:00 daily (to midnight at the weekend) and with events spread throughout Muscat the festival is easy to get to and enjoy. Very recently there has been talk of changes to the festival – including not holding it.

My 2017 update to the Bradt Guide to Oman is available as an eBook from most online stores – click here to get it now. And paperback worldwide.
