National Day 2010 Oman

is getting closer

There are three chains of petrol station in Muscat

For the National Day on 18th November two have pictures of Sultan Qaboos covering their sign board – though Al Maha still has to do anything I think I will still prefer Oman Oil’s version .

.
It looks as if most of the street decorations have been put up for National Day in Muscat . Normally there are flags – and these will hopefully be up soon.

But when will the holiday in Oman be?

I’m thinking it will be that Ministries will finish work 2nd December – and be back at work on the 11th eg the official holidays will be 4th-8th December inclusive

why?

Its never on the 18th November

Eid for the government ministries could be given so that they are off 15th – 20th November

Main National Day Events will be at the end November (same apples to usual practice on 18th – no holiday ) & Queen Elizabeth’s visit

Could the holidays for Eid and National Day be together ? Not likly.

The Islamic New Year is around the 6th / 7th so that could be a nice time.

The Fireworks championship are also from the 7th December and Oman always has fireworks for the National Day holidays – so what better fireworks than the World Championships.

So all that leaves the holidays to start of December – and to maximize the Government holidays – it will be the 4th onwards (and back in time for the Asian Beach Games)

what do you think ??
