Oman Guide Book for 2018 ‘Exceptional Places’

Oman has been included in Bradt Guide’s 2018 ‘Exceptional Places’ and the Bradt Guide to Oman is now available worldwide.

This annual listing is a recommendation of those countries, cities or regions that Bradt, the award-winning guidebook publisher, feels should be visited.

This year’s exceptional places include – Croatia, Ghana, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and Uruguay as well as the Sultanate of Oman.
Bradt, which has been publishing guidebooks for some 40 years, is well placed to select a ‘must visit’ destination as it publishes over 200 travel books. The company is a multi-award winning publisher with its first award being collected from Britain’s ‘Sunday Times’ in 1997.

The attractions in Oman of the Royal Opera House and National Museum offer visitor world-class public buildings and these are now joined by Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre a state of the art facility with associated hotels. The country’s deserts include the fabled Rub-Al Khali (Empty Quarter); spectacular mountain ranges and innumerable public beaches, all adding to the appeal of the Sultanate for the outdoor enthusiast.

In 2018 Oman offers all travellers more reasons to visit the country. Newly opened hotels such as Anantara’s Al Baleed Resort join the award-winning Alila Jabal Akhdar, Six Senses Zighy Bay and The Chedi Muscat. Oman’s road network provides improved communication; with major new arterial roads between Muscat and Dubai, Muscat and Abu Dhabi and within Dhofar serving Salalah.
An expanded air network by Oman’s flag carrying and award-winning airline, Oman Air,

now include both Manchester and Heathrow in Britain which are joined by the domestic airport of Duqm. Sohar airport is served by Oman’s new budget carrier Salam Air, which also flys from the new award-winning Salalah Airport, and Muscat International Airport whose new terminal should open March 2018. Sohar Airport which was closed is also becoming a terminus for Qatar Airways, delivering that airline’s legendary service to more visitors into Oman.

The above factors, together with the always welcoming residents and local culture clinched Oman’s inclusion in Bradt’s list.
