Oman’s New Bus Fleet

a great new service in Muscat

Almost ready for service are Oman’s bright and shiny new Buses under the new brand ‘Mwasalat’.

They are a familiar London Bus Red so unmistakable as to their purpose – and well suited for disabled people (disappointingly not British built but from the Dutch VDL Bus & Coach Company).

The initial service is from Mabela (north-west of the airport) into Ruwi, along this route there could be more than 60 bus stops (though it seems not into the Ghala industrial area) .  From Ruwi a route will continue though the Corniche and onto Al Alam Palace.

Operating from 06:00-22:00; the service will cost from 300baisa per trip – though the initial month will be free. These 40 vehicles are a much needed start to getting some effective public transport into Muscat, and Oman.

The routes between Ruwi-Wadi Adai and Ruwi -Wadi Kabir will be upgraded with a mix of some of the new Mwasalat fleet and some older buses re-allocated.
