I enjoyed leading a small group from Steppes Travel on a tour in Oman over Christmas over Christmas.

Since I started operating this for The Traveller (British Museum Tours) who Steppes purchased

this has been a mid-price program allowing us to offer more local flavour. Over the course of several days our lunches were varied including an open-air picnic with stupendous scenery and inside a simple local home a traditional style of meal.

As always we incorporated unexpected events into the days, including this one with splendid horses and their riders.

Oman is full of Date Oasis and we enjoyed a walk through one.

In Oman the date trees are an important crop and tightly packed together offering good shade and coolness.

Our accommodation included one of my favourites, irrespective of cost. Its set on a small sea lagoon and with breakfast directly on the beach and a few meters from the sea which makes a great start to a day.
