On the seventh day of Christmas head for the heights.

At 1800 meters above the Sea of Oman are the spectacular pre-historic Tower Tombs at Jaylah. As in so many good things the way is fraught with difficulties, a test of vehicle and driver.

The tombs dating from the 3rd millennium BC are probably the best preserved such tombs in Oman. If the daunting track is not your choice for the seventh day, head for the UNESCO Al Ayn tombs which are conveniently just off a tarmac road.
