Driving from Bait al Baraka on the official first day of Queen Elizabeth State visit to Oman the Queen passed along the Corniche in Sultan Qaboos’s Range Rover. A squadron of Land Rovers behind her, with the Royal Standard fluttering in the wind in front.

The Queen was then given a welcome at Al Alam Palace in Muscat by Sultan Qaboos during her state visit to Oman
Each year in Muscat and the rest of Oman the Hindu population celebrates Diwali. Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps filled with oil to show the triumph of good over evil.

In the building where I live there are several Indian families and it was nice to see the lamps at the door of one family – hopefully protecting the whole building .
