Egyptian Vultures on Masirah Island a talk by Ivaylo Angelov

One of the larger birds in Oman is the Egyptian Vultures. They are also very dramatic with the adults black and white plumage. The ESO is supporting Ivaylo Angelov in a survey of the birds on Masirah Island.

He explained in a talk I went to today that he found the island supported 52 breeding territories which seemed especially in the north of the island to be a high density. This relatively high density resulted in a number of fledged juveniles of 17, which Ivaylo said was comparable for similar sized raptors in other studies.

The focus of the talk was unfortunately only about the study and its population results and didnt give a broader picture of what the numbers mean.
