Gearing up for a late Autumn opening is the Kempinski Muscat. The hotel is one of the key tenants of Al Mouj Muscat the residential enclave in the west of Muscat.

Like AlMouj, the Kempinski Muscat’s ultimate owner is Oman’s government though Omani Hospitality Company. Set on the community beach that extends for a couple of kilometres towards AlMouj Golf, the PGA Standard 18 hole links golf course designed by Greg Norman, this is one of the key hotels to open in Oman in 2017. The property with over 300 rooms will add to Muscat’s expanding hotel scene and will be joined after some months by a ‘W’ hotel along with this summer’s refurbishment of Al Bustan Palace and Muscat Intercontinental Hotels.

If you will just visit Muscat in Oman – there is nothing better than to download the Bradt Guide to Muscat to explore in more depth.

Ten locations to eat in at Kempinski Muscat will include beach front casual and more formal options including the stylish ‘all day dining’ option designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates. Apart from AlMouj Golf the Kempinski is a short walk from the marina at Al Mouj Muscat with charter boats available from Oman Sail. The hotel started construction in 2013, well before the oil price drop and dollar appreciation started having an impact on Oman’s economy and is opening into a more competitive market.
