Tucked away in a corner with Bougainvillea cascading over the wall is one of Muscat’s new Public Services in Muscat – high-tech Japanese toilets.

The lack of public toilets in Muscat is something that needed attention – and its been done with style, though disappointingly this one was not ‘open’.

Complimenting them is a French made trash disposal system (similar systems are in at least Spain). The row of objects is the tip of the iceberg – with an underground storage system for the trash. It dosnt look as if its a sorted system and hardly looks as if it will take large objects. But looking beyond them in the picture is the current system of green containers whose lids invariably are broken, – so the new one is certainly an improvement.
