The Times World University have released their rankings for 2016 and within the top 10 in the Arab World is Sultan Qaboos University.
Opened in 1986 Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) began with five colleges: Medicine; Engineering; Agriculture; Education; and Science. From its opening it was a co-educational establishment and its female students have become the majority of graduates. The College of Arts was established in 1987, followed by the College of Commerce and Economics in 1993. The College of Law joined the university in 2006, and finally the College of Nursing was established in 2008. Set in a valley on the outskirts of MuscatSQU is an array of buildings designed with arches and courtyards and constructed in white and pink sandstone in a manner that reflects traditional Omani and Islamic architecture. SQU was constructed on an axis in the valley with one end aligned toward Mecca. The rankings give a comprehensive overview of higher education in the world and just so SQU fans can learn what The Times felt was important they also gave details of their criteria. .
