Though centrally located in Muscat it was a struggle to find Al Mandoos, the Omani themed restaurant in Ghubrah. It was found on the parallel side-road to Shell, just behind a small bakery. The menu had a reasonable selection that allowed choice without overwhelming the decision process.

The waitress kindly gave her suggestions which we took. The food then arrived in startlingly quick time,so quick that the starter a salad and dried fish, arrived after the main course.

The food was delicious with an extraordinary range of flavours. Perhaps it was our selection, but it was also bit heavy and lacking in colour. I had Tamarind juice, again fantastic and to finish the meal I was tempted and enjoyed what I think was the old-fashioned type of buttercream for cakes, by itself (there was no real alternative). An enjoyable meal and well worth the effort to find.
